Firstly, give your hands a good ol’ wash – pieces of dirt or dust from your fingers can scratch or damage your lenses –clean hands weren’t just for Covid!

Then, gently rinse your glasses under some warm water.  Mild soap can be applied to the frames to get rid of the sweat, grease and muck that might have accumulated there but try and avoid contact with the lenses – they’re delicate you know…..

AVOID USING ANY STRONG SOAPS OR HOUSEHOLD CLEANERS. This is in capital letters so must be important!  The lenses are made up of specialist coatings that are sensitive to many chemicals found in general household cleaners.

As tempting as it might be, please don’t do that heavy breathing thing onto your lenses. You’ll only end up creating smears, smudges and risk having particles of your dinner in your line of view.  A specialist lens cleaner is a great option to make sure your lenses are streak-free, as there’s no need to dry them off afterwards.

It’s hard to resist when in need but PLEASE avoid using paper towels, loo roll, dishtowels, t-shirt sleeves etc to wipe your lenses dry as they can often leave particles of dust or dirt on your lenses, causing micro-scratches. This can also cause the coating to come off- and that is not a good look. ALWAYS gently pat dry the lenses with a microfibre cloth.
